Food Guidelines
Due to a healthcare crisis in the USA with the resultant obesity epidemic we are paying special attention what children eat. Research shows that proper nutrition is the cornerstone of powerful academic performance, creativity, and physical stamina.
Snacks
The school provides 2 snacks which consist of fruits in season, vegetables, crackers, and other healthy food. Should you wish to you could pack extra snacks for your child. Due to many kids having allergies we do not permit PEANUTS or ANY TYPE OF NUTS at the school. Please refrain from sending Doughnuts, gum, peanuts, peanut butter, or candies to school. If found will be returned home.
At ABC Preschool house, we believe that serving healthy snacks to children is important to providing good nutrition, supporting lifelong healthy eating habits, and helping to prevent costly and potentially disabling diseases.
USA Today released new data from a leading market research firm that shows that fresh fruit is the most popular snack among children today. The research by the NPD Group shows that yogurt is in second place with children ages 2 to 7. Kids eat about 1.3 servings of fruit a day, according to Produce for Better Health Foundation, a non-profit group. Most children need double that amount, the group says. Kids’ favorites in order of preference are apples, bananas, grapes, peaches, oranges, berries, pears, and pineapple.
We have done extensive research to ensure that we are providing our children with food of the highest quality and nutrition. Please see our snack and Lunch Menus here.
REMEMBER THIS
Birthday Parties
Children’s birthdays may be celebrated at the school during lunch time or after 3:00 p.m. Please speak to the director if you plan on having a party in school. If you are sending something to celebrate your Childs birthday make sure it is healthy. Not only is that a better choice but other parents may not appreciate you giving their child something loaded with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, coloring and additives.
